The Looking Glass

My name is Alexis Solly, and I have been an enthusiastic South Florida plant collector for more than 20 years. So much so, that my husband and I built a 24 x 36' greenhouse for my collection. One day, my husband walked into the shadehouse, where I was working. The irrigation had gone off earlier, and everything was bright, green, and tropically lush. Jim exclaimed, "It's so magical in here, I feel like I have just walked through the looking glass." Nearly 2 decades later, the name for my shadehouse, The Looking Glass, has stuck.

I've stopped counting my hoyas, but estimate The Looking Glass is home to around 700 mother plants. I soon ran out of space, and realized that if I wanted to keep growing my collection, I was going to need to propagate them. And so I built the 10 x 20' Rabbit Hole propagation shadehouse, where I have hundreds of plants in various stages of readiness. Looking Glass Sprouts was born. I have been selling on my socials and at in-person events; I hope to soon have plants here on my website as well. 

Ever since I fell in love with all things hoya, I have also been enjoying drawing them. All of the artwork here on my website, on my T-shirts and other merchandise, showcase my original artwork. I am constantly making new drawings and adding new merchandise.
